Fluoride has a recommended daily intake which is different for the various age groups and genders. Find your recommended daily intake, below:

  • Infants (7-12 months) - 0.5mg
  • Children (1-3 years) - 0.7mg
  • Children (4-8 years) - 1.0mg
  • Children (9-13 years) - 2.0mg
  • Children (14-18 years) - 3.0mg
  • Men (> 51 years) - 4.0mg
  • Women (> 51 years) - 3.0mg
  • Pregnant women (all ages) - 3.0mg
  • Lactating women (all ages) - 3.0mg
There is a established recommended daily intake (RDI) and tolerable upper limit for fluoride

Tolerable Upper Limit

There is also a tolerable upper limit for fluoride - this is the maximum that can be safely taken of this mineral before it produces serious and toxic side effects:

  • Infants (0-6 months) - 0.7mg
  • Infants (7-12 months) - 0.9mg
  • Children (1-3 years) - 1.3mg
  • Children (4-8 years) - 2.2mg
  • Children (9-13 years) - 10.0mg
  • Children (14-18 years) - 10.0mg
  • Adults (>19 years) - 10mg
  • Pregnant women (all ages) - 10mg
  • Lactating women (all ages) - 10mg
