Certain groups of people should not take valine supplements and others should exercise caution when taking it:
- People with liver or kidney disease
- People with any type of medical condition
- Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People unable to tolerate the food additive MSG

Aspartic acid is toxic at doses greater than 3000mg per day.
Overdosage and Toxicity Symptoms
Aspartic acid has toxicity effects similar to monosodium glutamate if supplements are taken in excessive amounts:
- Asthma can be triggered
- Bronchial problems
- Cold sweats
- Dizziness and fainting
- Feeling very thirsty
- Migraine
- Mood problems (agitation, anxiety, depression, irritability)
- Muscle spasms
- Nausea
- Palpitations
The toxicity effects of high supplemental intake of aspartic acid can be reduced if magnesium and zinc are also supplemented at the same time.
