Glycine Cautions

In general, glycine supplements produce no major problems for otherwise healthy individuals, but certain people should not take glycine supplements without first consulting their doctor for advice:

  • People with liver or kidney disease
  • People with any type of medical condition
  • Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding

Toxic Levels of Glycine

Glycine is essentially non-toxic, even at really high doses.

Overdosage and Toxicity Symptoms

The only known side effect from taking high glycine supplements is fatigue, in healthy adults. No major toxicity symptoms from taking a lot of glycine has been established.
