Alanine RDI

Recommended daily intake

There is no current recommended daily intake or tolerable upper intake for alanine.

Therapeutic dosage

There is a therapeutic dosage for alanine, which is the most that can be safely taken for a short period before supplementation produces side effects:

  • Adults: 200-600mg per day
Alanine is a non-essential amino acid, so the body can usually create as much as it requires from the essential amino acids

The higher levels of alanine should only be taken under strict medical supervision because supplementation at very high levels may cause some side effects in some people.
